5 Tips for Keeping Track of Your TBR List

Check out my post from March 29th for different ways to keep track of your TBR list(s): 3 Ways to Keep Track of Your TBR Lists.

Whether your TBR list is on a month-to-month basis or a yearly basis is completely up to you. However, many of us do have a general, overarching TBR pile that keeps on growing because we keep finding new books we want to read. Today, I'll be giving you 5 tips for keeping track of your TBR list.

Tip 1: Try to keep your main list in one spot.
It doesn't matter if you use a physical journal, an electronic document, Goodreads, or any other way to keep track of the books you want to read. As long as your main list is mostly together in one easily accessible spot, it'll make your reading life easier.

Tip 2: Use a form of keeping track (journal, document, Goodreads, etc.) that you will be going back to often, if not constantly.
If you only check Goodreads occasionally - say, once a month or two - then that might not be the best place for you to keep track of your TBR list. Or if you're not a big writer or don't keep journals for long, journals and documents (electronic or physical) may not be a good way for you. Know the platform you'll return to often and consistently.

Tip 3: Don't use a certain way just because one or more people say "it's the best way to keep track of your TBR."
First off, the word best is subjective. As a result, what's "best" for someone else to keep track of their TBR lisg may not be "best" for you. Conversely, what's "best" for you to keep track of your TBR list may not be "best" for someone else. As mentioned in Tip 2, use a way to keep track of your TBR that works for you.

Tip 4: If you're not sure what way works best for you, try a variety of ways.
It's not an issue if you don't know what method of recording your TBR works best for you. It happens to everyone. And it can also happen that the method you were using isn't working so great for you now. It's okay to try different ways of recording your TBR. Once you try them out for a little while, choose the one that works for you.

Tip 5: Ask others for advice.
If you're not sure what direction to go in, it's okay to ask the bookish community for advice as to how to keep track of your TBR list. However, keep Tip 2 and Tip 3 in mind. Once you get a few suggestions, then proceed with Tip 4, and then decide on what way is best for you.
