I had the idea for this post when I was drafting up my Autumn 2021 Reading Recommendations post, which was published on September 22 (the first day of Autumn for the Northern Hemisphere). At first, I was going to post this on October 30, right before my October Reading Wrap Up. However, as I thought about it, it didn't make sense for this kind of post to be published so late in the month.
Personally, I don't read a lot of spooky, horror, or Halloween-esque books. I read a lot of books that give Autumn and/or October vibes, but nothing really spooky, horror, or Halloween-centered. As a result, many of these books may correspond with my Autumn 2021 Reading Recommendations post, but I will try to include different books as well.

Here are my SpookTober/Halloween reading recommendations!
- The Count of Monte Cristo, Alexandre Dumas
- Nero (duology), Margaret George
- Grimm's Complete Fairy Tales, Brothers Grimm
- Beowulf, Anonymous (Seamus Heaney translation recommended)
- The Phantom Tollbooth, Norton Juster
- To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee
- Circe, Madeline Miller
- Ramses the Damned (duology), Anne Rice
- Daughter of Smoke & Bone (trilogy), Laini Taylor
