6 Bookish Activities You Can Do That AREN'T Reading

This is a post I've been wanting to do for quite some time. However, I kept forgetting to type it up and schedule it for publication. It's about time I finally got around to this: bookish activities you can do that aren't reading.

There are the obvious ones: bookstagram, booktube, a book blog. However, I wanted to include some others that may not necessarily be identified as an "obvious" bookish activity. Some of them may be "obvious" once they're brought up as a bookish activity, but they aren't necessarily the first things that come to mind.

With that said, let's get into these 6 bookish activities.

Bookish Activity 1: Journaling.
I talked a bit about journaling on this blog in early June before I took my posting break. However, journaling can be a bookish activity if you have book journals. These can be set up however you want, but book journals can include reviews, ratings, your thoughts, photos, etc. And these can be really fun to set up.

Bookish Activity 2: Book reviews.
Whether or not you publish these reviews anywhere (Goodreads, a blog, IG, etc.), reviewing books can help you better understand how you felt about a certain book. You don't have to publish them anywhere. The reviews can be in any format: handwritten or typed up. Book reviews can also be included in a book journal if you decide to do that.

Bookish Activity 3: Make a dish, drink, snack, etc. in the book.
It doesn't matter if the food or drink item isn't a "real" thing in our world. You can still attempt to do it and see how it turns out. Even if it's something "normal" like a cookie or tea, it can still be fun to do this.

Bookish Activity 4: Create a mood board relating to a book.
You can create mood boards for literally anything these days. So creating one for a book, either a current read or a past read, can be fun to figure out.

Bookish Activity 5: Put together some of your favorite quotes from a book.
This one is something more obviously related to reading, but it's still a fun bookish activity. No matter how you go about it, it can be fun to have all of your favorite quotes from a specific book (or multiple books) in one, easily accessible place.

Bookish Activity 6: Create a reading or bookish playlist.
Yes, you may eventually listen to this playlist as you read. However, actually creating it can be really fun to do. What kind of music do you like listening to? What music will help you focus on reading? What will help you get into the mood for a certain book? This was a fun process (at least for me) to really go through as I created my own reading playlist.
